Anne is a contemporary British painter based in Sheffield. She is particularly drawn to the architectural qualities of landscape, both urban and rural. The use of colour is fundamental to Anne’s practice - she loves balancing subtle hues with distinctive bursts of vibrancy. Each painting is built up through layering, incorporating a variety of textures and opacities of paint. The history of the painting is evident, as glimpses of earlier layers remain visible. The final semi-abstract image gradually emerges through this interplay, often retaining exciting unplanned and ambiguous elements.

Anne is currently undertaking an MA in Painting at Manchester School of Art. After studying Physics at university, she completed the Tonmeister diploma before working as a Studio Manager for the BBC in London and Manchester. In addition to sales from her collection, Anne has undertaken commissions for private and corporate clients. She is represented by Hope Gallery, Hebden Bridge.
